Greetings to all of you who are bestowed with a copy of this book and those desiring to read and know more about the history of Limay!
It is from this story that we learn how societies adapt and change over periods of time as we attempt to view from historical evidence footprints of economic activity, developing social trends, evolution of social norms, behavioral patterns and more. It also gives us a rare chance to travel back in time and have a glimpse on how politics, politicians and other leaders in our community became famous, as well as, infamous driving forces of continuity and change in history.
A famous quote by George Santayana has it that ‘’Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it’’. Also, Thomas Paine said that ‘’Men make history, but they do not make it just as they please, they do not make it under circumstances chosen by themselves but under circumstances directly encountered and transmitted from the past’’.
This ‘’HISTORY OF LIMAY’’, therefore, is written for a purpose…and that is to examine and analyze the sequence of events and attempt to evaluate objectively the patterns of cause and effect that determine events and the lessons we should learn! The writing of this book has come a long way from its conception up to this time as you are reading it right now. So many have dreamed of writing it before, but only today, that dream is now a masterpiece in your hands.
I am so thankful to all the members of the Limay Historical Committee for the great effort and perseverance in working hard to finally have this priceless book published. Thank you also to those who have given their share of valuable information and historical relics that supported and validated the accounts in this book. To all my constituents in Limay, let this book be legacy of our common desire preserve moments in history, – the story of Limay! Our youth deserves to know, that what has been written here is our forefather’s story, own foundation for their own upcoming story!
Today, globalization, with the potent rise of social networking, has created so much impact on people, culture and economy. By knowing and understanding our history, we can nurture our hope around it with a vison to redirect our efforts toward sustained growth and development through convergence and collaboration.
Finally, let this book be our common bridge to cross as we should always remember that ‘’History is a beginning where the future learns from the past!’’
Congratulations and God bless us all!
